Is it cheaper to pay with coins or a card?
The price of a wash is usually the same either way. Some card systems add a small load fee when you top up, and some run app-only discounts, so the difference is a few cents rather than a reason to choose.
What if the card machine is broken?
Attended locations can start a machine manually or refund on the spot. At unattended ones the kiosk usually posts a support number, and refunds come back to the card — which is one practical reason to prefer a laundromat with staff on site.
